Engaging opportunity to develop communications focused on conserving threatened and endangered marine species in a changing climate

Posted on: 02/09/2023

Summary / Description

NOAA Fisheries Office of Protected Resources is seeking a student to develop and expand communications efforts on conserving threatened and endangered marine species in a changing climate. This work will also align with the 50th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act, which forms the foundation of marine species conservation, protection, and recovery at NOAA.

Working with the NOAA Fisheries Office of Protected Resources leadership and staff, the student will tell engaging stories about endangered and threatened species, whose survival and habitat are more vulnerable due to climate change. These conservation, management, and science stories also share a nexus with the 50th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act.

Communication is critical to informing and inspiring the public about science and conservation efforts. Specific possible products, depending on the student’s skillset, could include web stories, social media content, videos, graphics, and much more. This opportunity will help you develop valuable science communication skills that will be widely applicable to your future endeavors.

Be a part of an office responsible for and dedicated to whales, seals, corals, sea turtles, sturgeons, and many more amazing marine species. Gain valuable science communication skills, produce tangible products, and make a difference!
