The infographic is part of a larger effort known as the National Coral Reef Monitoring Program, which gathers and monitors a collection of socioeconomic variables in seven U.S. coral jurisdictions with the overall goal of tracking relevant information regarding each jurisdiction’s population, social and economic structure, the impacts of society on coral reefs, and the impacts of coral management on communities.

This marks the fifth infographic released by the the NCCOS Social Science Team and the Coral Reef Conservation Program. Surveying in the Commonwealth of the Mariana Islands is currently underway, and surveying will soon begin in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
