Science Communications for Charismatic Megafauna

Summary / Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled communicator with strong scientific interests or training, who can help us complete the following tasks:

  1. Establish a centralized repository of communications materials, including photos  in Google Drive/Google Site.
  2. Consolidate and develop communications materials (e.g., brochures, fact sheets, briefing materials for Congress or NOAA leadership, slide decks).
  3. Create infographics, short videos, storymaps, or other web stories to amplify messaging about Rice’s whales, leatherback turtles, sperm whales, bottlenose dolphins, and other species or issues of interest. 

The selected intern will work with a Communications team and will be mentored/supervised by the Marine Mammal and Turtle Division Director and Branch Chiefs. 

Skills Required

Social media savviness, artistic/illustration skills, website design, PowerPoint, verbal and written English communication skills, organizational abilities, and ability to work independently and communicate effectively within and across teams.
