NCCOS scientists are on the water in Kodiak, AK collecting sediment samples to inform a new forecast model for toxic Alexandrium blooms in south-central Alaska. These Harmful Algal Blooms are a serious health hazard in much of coastal Alaska due to accumulation of saxitoxins in shellfish and other invertebrates harvested as subsistence foods.
