Coastal marshes and wetlands can attenuate wave energy and reduce flood risk. This project will model and evaluate the costs and benefits of various nature based solutions and management options to help communities decide on the most appropriate way forward. Credit: Jay Fleming

A new 2-year project is underway that integrates hydrodynamic and wave modeling with cost-benefit and ecosystem services analysis to evaluate land management actions, flood mitigation designs, and policy options under climate scenarios. The results will help inform future restoration and flood mitigation project proposals for agencies from underserved communities in the Chesapeake Bay Region that may have limited capacity.
