The breadth of NCCOS research involving harmful algal blooms (HABs) is on display at the Sixth Symposium on Harmful Algae in the U. S. in Austin Texas, November 14-17, 2011. Over 60 presentations and posters highlight the research NCCOS scientists and sponsored investigators.

Topics include ecology, climate change, toxicity, genetics, prevention, mitigation, detection, monitoring, forecasting and communications. In addition, NCCOS, along with other sponsors, is supporting travel for 3 state managers and 32 students and post-docs to attend the conference.
