National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science staff were joined by colleagues from NOAA Fisheries and the National Weather Service on February 3, 2018 at the 2018 Charleston STEM Festival where over 10,000 children, teens, and local STEM professionals engaged in celebrating science, technology, and engineering.  The annual festival – in its fifth year – brought together people of all ages for activities, live performances, interactive demonstrations and family oriented STEM entertainment.  The NOAA team was able to educate both partners and individuals about NOAA’s mission of science, service and stewardship.  The NOAA booth included information about coastal and ocean science, marine mammal stewardship, marine forensics, storm and weather information. NOAA Scientists were about to teach the public about the many different services NOAA provides and opportunities to learn more about NOAA activities in the Charleston areas as well as around the nation and globe.  Major exhibitors alongside NOAA included Google, Boeing, Bosch, Mercedes Benz, Medical University of South Carolina, College of Charleston, and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
