Sierra Sarkis

Sarkis is an experienced science communications specialist with a demonstrated history of working in both government and nonprofit industries. At NCCOS, Sarkis is responsible for coordination, creation, tracking and reporting of the NCCOS Annual Operating Plan, providing programmatic and communication support for NCCOS activities, developing communications planning, tracking and execution of science and research accomplishments and events, and managing NCCOS social media accounts. Sarkis also leads the development of roll out plans, one pagers, press releases, events and other communication materials.

Prior to working with NCCOS, she served as a Marketing Specialist at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, and the Communications Intern at NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML). She thrives on sharing the excitement of science with others, and is passionate about her role in communicating science to policymakers and resource managers.

She received her BA from Boston University in Marine Science and completed her Masters of Professional Science (MPS) at University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School for Marine and Atmospheric Science, where she specialized in Science Communication and Marine Conservation.
