This report presents a framework and provides findings from a community vulnerability assessment analysis conducted in the Choptank Habitat Focus Area (HFA) within the Chesapeake Bay. Due to the strong connectivity between Chesapeake Bay communities and their environment, the risks associated with flooding, coastal storms, and sea level rise are heightened, thus requiring integrated science techniques and methods to determine community vulnerability to climate and coastal hazard impacts. This project supplies Choptank HFA partners, as well as coastal communities, local governments, and coastal and watershed organizations, with information that can be used to identify and prioritize areas that have the potential to be negatively impacted by climate-related hazards through the implementation of a framework for an integrated social-environmental vulnerability assessment.
